BrandStrategy
The part nobody sees but everyone feels.
Strategy is the part of brand work that doesn't end up on Behance — but it's the part that decides whether the brand earns its keep in ten years. We run strategy as an engagement of its own or as the front-end of a full branding project. Output is a positioning document, a brand architecture if the business has multiple lines, a measurable success framework and the brief that every subsequent design decision answers to. Done right, strategy makes design decisions almost obvious.
How we work
- 01
Discovery
Stakeholder interviews (founders, key team, sometimes customers), category research, competitor analysis, audience segmentation. We surface what's known, what's assumed and what's missing.
- 02
Positioning
Working session with leadership: who you serve, what you stand for, what you don't, the change you want to drive in the world. We end the session with a draft positioning statement everyone has signed off on.
- 03
Architecture
For multi-product or multi-brand companies — the architecture map (master-brand, sub-brands, product names, endorsed brands) and the principles for adding to it as the business grows.
- 04
Framework
Measurable success framework — what does this brand need to do in 1 / 3 / 5 years to be successful, and how do we know we're winning. This becomes the brief every subsequent design and marketing decision answers to.
What you get
- Stakeholder interview summary
- Category and competitor analysis
- Audience segmentation and personas
- Positioning statement and brand story
- Brand architecture map (if multi-line)
- Measurable success framework
- 20–30 page strategy document
- Working session facilitation with leadership
Common questions
MAZE Studio is a branding and design studio in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, working with companies across Central Asia in English, Russian and Uzbek.
Can we do strategy without buying design from you?
Yes — strategy is often a standalone engagement. The output is a document any design team can execute against.
How is this different from a marketing strategy?
Brand strategy is upstream — who we are and what we stand for. Marketing strategy is downstream — how we tell people, on which channels, with what budget. Brand strategy lasts; marketing tactics rotate.
Do you do customer research?
We can — qualitative (interviews, ethnography) or coordinated quantitative (surveys with partners). Customer research is a separate budget line and adds 2–4 weeks.
What if our positioning needs to change later?
The strategy document is a living artefact — we recommend a review every 18–24 months as the business and category move. We're happy to run those reviews; many of our clients re-engage us for them.
